Accomplishments

17 Catholic Schools have opened (5 this fall) since I have been elected as Trustee. Additionally, St. Margaret School is reopening this fall for students who need special programming.
 

Worked relentlessly and cleared several hurdles to put the infrastructure in place to have Sister Anata Brockman School remain K-9
 

Numerous initiatives and programs for early learning: ‘100 Voices’ for 3 and 4 year olds, and full day Kindergarten for children at risk
 

‘One World One Centre’ converted a large unused school to a centre for those new to Canada, offering several wrap-around services in one place to help families adjust and children settle into school
 

Hosted several Parent Engagement evenings on topics of Faith, Technology, balancing the District Budget, applying for post-secondary scholarships, completing fundraising grant applications, how to deal with bullying, and Student Mental Health
 

Advocate for Learning Coaches in all schools to help teacher with the challenge of classroom dynamics
 

Lead-role in a new initiative that strengthens Sacramental Preparation for our students (in partnership with the Archbishop and other Catholic Boards in the Archdiocese)
 

Worked hard with my community to lobby for the major modernizations of both St. Francis Xavier and Archbishop MacDonald High Schools – among these, the field house at St. Francis Xavier, constructed in partnership with the City of Edmonton, an innovative project I worked tirelessly to bring to fruition.
 

Innovative Cardinal Collins High School Academic Centre: this Centre is a place for students to attend if they need more than three years to complete High School.  Built in partnership with the City of Edmonton, it will also be used by the community.  The money was fronted by the city of Edmonton and will be paid back over time with the money we receive from the government for student course completion credits.
 

In my role as chair, I have excelled at communications and been successful in getting clear concise messaging out to the Public at large through the media.
